This program is designed to prepare students for employment as Central Sterile Processing Technicians. Also referred to as, Certified Registered Central Service Technicians (CRCST). Instruction will focus on work in a sterile processing department and central service location, working as a team to maintain sterilization and storage, learning microbiology and infection control and apply principles and practices of sterile processing and decontamination. Upon completion, students will be able to take the certification exam for sterile processing technicians, offered by the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA). CRCST certification requires that you pass the certification exam and complete 400 hours of hands-on experience in a CS department. These hours can be completed before testing or within 6 months of passing the exam.

There are 4 required in person lab days for this course.

This course is 12 weeks. PMTC offers 30 hours of clinical experience.

Course Requirements

• Students must be at least 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or GED

• 2-step PPD (tuberculosis) Test - (Florence)

• SLED Background Check (must be submitted by 1st day of class)

• Nationwide Background Check

• 10-panel Drug Screening

• BLS/CPR for the Healthcare Provider certification

• Uniform (ceil blue)

• Immunization Records
