    Medical Coder (CPC) This course prepares students to code patients’ medical records correctly and optimize reimbursement for a full range of medical services. Students are introduced to several techniques for finding and applying the correct codes in today’s standard coding systems. Topics covered include: current procedural terminology, international classification of diseases, clinical modification, and health care procedure coding system, resource-based relative valve scale, and insurance form preparation for Medicare, Medicaid, Tri-care, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and Workers Compensation. No fault, HMO’s diagnosis-related groups, preer review organizations, and ambulatory patient groups are also covered. This program curriculum provides each student with the opportunity to achieve the knowledge and skills required by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) to be eligible for certification. Upon successful completion of the theory requirements, students will receive a certificate of completion from PMTC and will be assisted with the scheduling of the certification exam.   • Phlebotomy Technician | PMTC

    Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) This course provides phlebotomy instruction to the student with a working knowledge of collecting blood and other specimens with emphasis on patient safety, quality assurance and universal and standard precautions. This course utilizes a lecture, clinical laboratory, and demonstrated methodology and prepares students for the National Health Career Association (NHA) certification exam, which is given at PMTC once a month. After the successful completion of this 12-week course, (84 Classroom/Lab Hours, 30 Venipunctures, 10 Capillary Sticks), students will receive a certificate of completion from PMTC, needed to take the national certification exam given by the NHA. *Must be at least 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or GED. *Must have proof of BLS/CPR Certification before Certificate of Completion will be issued.   • Pharmacy Technician | PMTC

    Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) This course provides the student with the skills that are important while assisting the pharmacist in the preparation and dispensing of medications. Students will be trained on how to interpret prescription hard copies, pharmacy calculations, processing a prescription, pharmacy laws, compounding and packaging of medications. We will also provide you with the information on how to become a registered technician. Upon successfully completing 105 hours you will receive a certificate of completion from PMTC. We will provide you with the application to take the national certification (PTCB) exam. *Must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or GED *Must have proof of BLS/CPR certification before certificate of completion will be issued.   • Online Medical Administrative Assistant | PMTC

    Online Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) We are now offering the Medical Administrative Assistant program as a virtual class taught by a live instructor. This course will prepare students to perform routine administrative duties in medical offices and clinics. Students will be instructed on proper telephone procedures, how to greet patients, update and file patient medical records, fill out insurance forms and handle correspondence. Other topics will include scheduling appointments and arranging hospital admissions and laboratory services. Various office equipment will be covered. This course will cover an extensive list of common terminology used in the typical medical office. After successful completion of the course (56 hours), each student will receive a certificate of completion from PMTC and will be provided with a test schedule to take the certification exam given by the National Health Career Association (NHA).     Nursing Assistant (CNA) This course covers the physical comfort and safety functions specific to a Nursing Assistant, including modules on patient care procedures for geriatric and adult patients, patient rights, laws providing patient privacy & confidentiality, infection control, nutrition, physical and social support, legal and ethical considerations and documentation. The course is taught to provide and prepare students for the state exam required to obtain certification from the state of South Carolina. After successful completion of the course (100 hours), each student will receive a certificate of completion from PMTC, needed to take the certification exam given by the SC Department of Health and Human Services.   • EKG Technician | PMTC

    EKG Technician (CET) This course provides an overview of basic cardiovascular terminology, anatomy and physiology. The course focuses on the proper placement of electrocardiogram (EKG) leads and maintenance of equipment to obtain an accurate 12-Lead EKG. Students learn to recognize cardiac dysrhythmias. The course also outlines responsibilities of ECG/EKG Technicians and provides clinical laboratory opportunity to develop entry-level skills. After successful completion of the 8 week course (56 Hours), each student will receive a certificate of completion from PMTC and will be provided with the appropriate application and test schedule to take the national certification exam given by the National Health Career Association, given at PMTC once a month. *Must be at least 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or GED. *Must have proof of BLS/CPR Certification before Certificate of Completion will be issued.   • Central Sterile Processing Technician | PMTC

    Central Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST) This program is designed to prepare students for employment as Central Sterile Processing Technicians. Also referred to as, Certified Registered Central Service Technicians (CRCST). Instruction will focus on work in a sterile processing department and central service location, working as a team to maintain sterilization and storage, learning microbiology and infection control and apply principles and practices of sterile processing and decontamination. Upon completion, students will be able to take the certification exam for sterile processing technicians, offered by the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA). CRCST certification requires that you pass the certification exam and complete 400 hours of hands-on experience in a CS department. These hours can be completed before testing or within 6 months of passing the exam. *Must be at least 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or GED. *Must have proof of BLS/CPR Certification before Certificate of Completion will be issued.     Medication Technician This 4 week course (2 8 hours) introduces students to the basic categories of medications and the principles on how to safely administer medications to patients. Medication technicians typically work in long term care or assisted living facilities. Med techs usually work under the supervision of nurses.
